What Are We Doing?
SignaNatura is building a global nature observation network where people play a central role in identifying and documenting changes in the natural environment.
Our first mission is to preserve people's lifetime observations before this valuable knowledge disappears.
Our work includes:
Interviewing people who have observed nature over many decades.
Documenting their observations through written stories, photographs, and video.
Producing documentary videos and interview series.
Publishing podcasts about environmental change and nature's early signals.
Writing articles, blogs, and reports based on collected observations.
Building a global nature observation network where every observation can contribute to a better understanding of future environmental change.

The First Documentation Journey
SignaNatura’s first documentation journey will begin in Eastern Finland and continue through Northern Finland to Northern Sweden and Northern Norway.
Along the way, we will meet people who have lived in the same regions for decades and observed changes in nature throughout their lives. We will listen to their memories and document observations concerning winters, forests, waterways, wildlife, birds, fish populations, and the changing seasons.
Our purpose is not merely to collect individual stories. We aim to develop a broader picture of how northern nature has changed within living memory and what early signals may be found in these long-term observations.
Planned Route
Finland
The journey begins in Eastern Finland and continues through Kainuu, Koillismaa, and Lapland. The first phase will focus particularly on rural areas and communities where people have a long and personal relationship with the surrounding environment.
Sweden
From Finland, the journey will continue to Northern Sweden, particularly the regions of Norrbotten and Västerbotten. The aim is to preserve observations concerning changes in forests, rivers, winters, and northern ecosystems.
Norway
The third phase will take place in Northern Norway, particularly in Troms and Finnmark. The documentation will explore changes affecting coastal areas, fjords, fish populations, birds, snow cover, and northern seasonal cycles.
